Grief & Loss

The work of grieving means letting go and saying good-bye in order to move forward. In addition to the death of a loved one, losses that feel like death, such as divorce, chronic illness or disability, or unwanted life transitions, can also cause grief. Almost everyone who grieves experiences a mixture of sadness, anxiety, guilt, and anger. Although fully experiencing these feelings can be intense, once you have been able to grieve effectively you will never have to do it again—and when grief works, it facilitates the transition to a new life.
